“When workers rest well, everyone benefits”
Bed provider says upgrade to Moranbah facilities will improve comfort and consistency
Moranbah’s newest accommodation provider, Resource Accommodation, says it has completed a major renovation at its recently acquired Lodge Outback motel in Moranbah.
The Western Australian-based business recently acquired Moranbah’s Smart Stay Village, Moranbah Motor Inn and Outback Motel. Since that acquisition, the Smart Stay Village and the Moranbah Motor Inn now operate as the Lodge Village, while the Outback Motel is now known as The Lodge Outback Motel.
According to Marketing Director Phil Buhagiar, their philosophy is to provide more than just a place to sleep; it should be a place to rest, recharge and maintain a sense of routine while spending extended periods away from family and friends.
To achieve this, they had to invest in their facilities.
“Since acquiring the property, we have completed extensive upgrades at the Lodge, including new Sealy pillow-top beds, furniture, linen, lighting, TVs and freshly painted rooms, all designed to enhance comfort and functionality,” he told Shift Miner.
“We wanted to create an accommodation experience that genuinely supports the people staying with us.
“Many of our guests spend weeks at a time in Moranbah, so comfort, convenience and consistency become incredibly important.
“The result is a motel that combines larger, executive-style rooms with the practical features today’s travellers need, like spacious layouts, modern furnishings and upgraded amenities.”
Mr Buhagiar says the ongoing investment in their Moranbah assets reflects Resource Accommodation’s confidence in Moranbah, the Bowen Basin, and coal more broadly.
While acknowledging that what happens inside their facilities is significant, he said that how they interact with the surrounding community is equally important.
“One of the things that sets our properties apart is that they’re part of the towns in which they operate,” he said.
“We believe people are better supported when they’re able to stay within established communities rather than feeling isolated from them.”
“At the end of a long day, quality accommodation isn’t about fresh paint or new furniture—it’s about how a place makes you feel when you walk through the door.”
