Process needs time
Mines inspector confirms which machinery involved in NSW fatality
The NSW Mines Inspectorate is yet to release preliminary findings into the cause of the Wambo mine coal fatality just over a week ago.
However, in a short media statement, Chief Inspector Anthony Margetts confirmed the fatality involved a member of the mines blast crew being struck by a mobile processing unit.
“Our inspectors and investigators attended the site following the incident, and I’ve been working to understand the circumstances surrounding this tragedy,” he said
“It is important that this process is allowed to take its course.
“At this stage our focus is on understanding what happened, supporting the investigation and ensuring relevant information is shared back with industry when appropriate.”
